The problem
WebBriks ran HR, finance, sales, and client delivery across spreadsheets and disconnected tools. There was no single system for attendance, payroll, invoicing, leads, or client support, and no shared source of truth across teams.
The approach
Built a monorepo platform with a shared Express and MongoDB backend serving several Next.js apps (auth, dashboard, support, public site). Modeled the business as roughly fifty Mongoose collections exposed through role-scoped REST routes, with real-time updates over Socket.io.
Architecture
Express and TypeScript API with Mongoose over MongoDB. Better Auth and JWT for authentication, Redis with BullMQ for background jobs, a transactional outbox collection for reliable payment events, AWS S3 (presigned uploads) and Cloudinary for files, Stripe and PayPal for billing, Puppeteer and react-pdf for documents, and Sentry plus pino for monitoring. Frontends are Next.js App Router apps using Redux Toolkit (RTK Query).
